Take Off #10: Introducing Community Voting ๐Ÿ‡น๐Ÿ‡ท

We're diving deep into the 10th edition of our Take Off scholarship program. From the streets of Paris to the vibrant city of Istanbul, we're evolving and handing more and more power to our community. Dive in to discover what's new and how you can be a part of this transformative journey.

What is Take Off?

Take Off, sponsored by Protocol Labs, is Talent Protocol's flagship scholarship program. It's our way of providing web3 builders from around the globe a golden ticket to their first IRL web3 hackathon.

The Take Off scholarship includes:

  • A flight refund up to $750 (paid in USDT)
  • Free shared accommodation for the duration of the program
  • Access to the Take Off alumni community

But it's not just about attending an event; it's about immersing oneself in an ecosystem, rubbing shoulders with the brightest minds, and accelerating professional growth. With over 100 bright individuals already having benefited from our previous editions, we're more excited than ever for what's next.

The Plan for Istanbul

Our next stop? Istanbul. Participants will be attending the much anticipated Devconnect events. But that's not all. We're also hosting the Talent Brunch, a casual yet impactful gathering where scholars meet opportunities over brunch. And to wrap up the Istanbul experience, there's the ETHGlobal Istanbul hackathon, a playground for innovation and collaboration.

How to Apply

Don't wait. Submit your application today. The earlier, the better.

How Does the Selection Work?

This time, we're doing things a bit differently. Instead of the Talent Protocol team selecting the winners, we're empowering our community to vote for their favorite Take Off candidates.

The voting mechanism is designed to be as fair as possible, by following these 3 principles:

  1. Voting isn't free: a very small financial cost can go a long way to prevent bots and fake votes, while also making sure voters are engaged and motivated in the selection process.
  2. Dynamic pricing: not all votes cost the same; voting on popular candidates, who are more likely to win, should cost more than voting on hidden gems.
  3. Voting cost increases linearly: the first vote costs 1 $TAL, the second 2 $TAL, the third 3 $TAL, and so on.

This isn't change for the sake of change. We're on a mission to make the process more democratic and engaging, and to explore new utilities for the $TAL token.

Why Should I Pay to Vote?

Voting isn't just a process; it's an experience. Voting shouldn't only be fair, but also fun and rewarding (both financially and emotionally).

The cost of a vote is very little, but it can mean the world to the person youโ€™re helping. This should be your main motivation to vote...but there's more. If you've got a knack for spotting winners, there's a $TAL bonus waiting for you.

All $TAL spent on votes goes into a prize pool. After a 10% protocol fee deduction, this pool will be redistributed among those who voted for the winners (proportionally to their winning votes), ensuring everyone has a stake in the game.

The more the total votes, the bigger the prize pool. And the more winning votes you have, the bigger the share of it youโ€™ll get. Itโ€™s a win-win outcome for all.
