Talent House #2 - From 440 applicants to 13 high-potential Web3 talents in Paris for the first time

After a successful first edition of Talent House at Celo Connect in Barcelona, we announced a new edition and opened applications for Talent House #2. This time we are granting builders worldwide the opportunity to attend EthCC week in Paris. Alongside a variety of side events, mentorship meetings, and network possibilities, the largest annual European Ethereum event will take place from July 19th to the 21st, 2022!
Talent House is an initiative, led by Talent Protocol and sponsored by the Celo Foundation, that aims to support high-potential talent to attend their first Web3 conference and, thereby, help them expand their network, exchange ideas, and build the learning base they need to kick-off their own projects.
The choice was hard but we made it!
In just 2 weeks, we received a record number of applications to be part of the second Talent House: 440 people from all over the world. We were blown away by the amount of people highly motivated to attend EthCC Paris, and we couldnโt be happier to note the vast diversity of their backgrounds.
For example, the majority of our applicants were from Nigeria (18.2%), followed by Indonesia (8.2%), the United States (6.8%), Russia (5.5%), India (5%), and other 70 countries.
Another interesting observation is the almost equal number of people who would classify themselves as technical (53,9%) and non-technical (46.1%) in the blockchain & crypto space.

Clearly, it was difficult to select the grant winners from such an inspiring and motivated group of talents! Therefor, a jury (consisting of Talent Protocol and Celo Foundation representatives) had to thoroughly look through all applications and decide on a shortlist, based on the following criteria:
1. Motivation - why the applicant wanted to attend the EthCC week ; 2. Talent - the quality and novelty of their work and projects; 3. Ambition - why this opportunity was important for them and their career goals; 4. Diversity - balance gender, nationality, and ethnicity amongst the winners.
Full Grant Winners
Initially, Talent House planned to offer 5 high-potential individuals a full grant. However, since the number of talented applicants was so high, we spontaneously decided to select one more winner to receive a full grant that covers the accommodation in a shared house near the event venue and the full travel expanses to/from Paris. Here they are:
- Elif Demirci, Turkey (Middle East)
- Ezea Victor Chukwuebuka, Nigeria (Africa)
- Harsh Patel, India (Asia)
- Mark Rachapoom, Thailand (Asia)
- Molly Cantillon, USA (North America)
- Regina Puca, Mexico (Latin America)
Partial Grant Winners
Talent House additionally offers 7 talents a partial grant that either partially or fully covers their travel expenses. These are:
- Abra Rosaline Tsekpuia, Togo (Africa)
- Agustin Schmilovich, Argentina (Latin America)
- Caelin Sutch, Republic of the Union of Myanmar (Asia)
- Emily Park, South Korea (Asia)
- Jerry Qi, Canada (North America)

All winners have already been directly contacted by a Talent Protocol team member for all necessary arrangements.
